Job Description:

 

 

The San Antonio Parks Foundation (SAPF) is searching for candidates for a Social Media & Communications Internship. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting the San Antonio Parks Foundation in the development and implementation of all communications efforts including print, broadcast, internet and social media. 

 

 

 JOB FUNCTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES): 

 Collaborate with staff on new ideas and tools for marketing and communications, as well as social media plans 

 Update SAPF social media accounts and website with current and relevant photos, video, or other content from SAPF activities and events 

 Update and maintain current information on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google, LinkedIn, Yelp accounts 

 Perform research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to customer base and post it to SAPF social networks in a manner that invites conversation and interaction 

 Respond to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions with SAPF 

 Increase engagement throughout all social media outlets through the use of creative content 

 Grow SAPF’s online social networks by increasing fan-base and interactions 

 Evaluate social media using metrics such as, conversation rate, amplification, applause, and economic value 

 Monitor social media web analytics and provide reports; prepare weblog reports of commentary posted to the internet 

 Draft and edit content for SAPF print materials, e-blasts, press advisories, and newsletters 

 Upload SAPF photos and videos to the appropriate server or DropBox account 

 Organize digital images according to purpose (print or web) and designate program categories 

 Regularly observe the online activity of other park organizations; research and report on “social media best practices” 

 Research editorial opportunities with trade publications, newspapers, and other magazines 

 

 

 Assist with creating and designing marketing materials, such as flyers and graphics 

 Provide event support as needed 

 Assist with daily office operations, such as answering phones, responding to emails, organizing inventory, and processing payments 

 Other duties, digital media and research projects as assigned 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

 Completion of, or in pursuit of, Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in the fields of English, Marketing, Business Administration, Communication, 

 

Journalism, Public Relations, or related field 

 Non-profit or community service experience strongly preferred 

 Knowledge and experience with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media platform required 

 

SKILLS REQUIRED: 

 Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing professional environment, while multitasking and meeting deadlines 

 Must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possess excellent organizational skills 

 Be able to prioritize, problem solve and produce high-quality work in accordance with directions given 

 Excellent writing/grammar and verbal communication skills, previous writing experience preferred 

 Be able to communicate in a professional manner with associates, SAPF contacts, and media 

 Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint (Microsoft Office software), as well as internet-based research 

 Experience with Adobe programs, e.g. Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, a plus 

 Bilingual a plus 

 

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION: 

 This is an unpaid internship - August 2017-December 31, 2017 

 College credit applicable 

 10-20 hours/week; business hours are M-F, 9am-5pm with some commitments outside of this timeframe for special event support 

 Must be able to lift 20-25 lbs.
