McConnell & Jones LLP Audit Partner, Wendy Nguyen, Selected as a 2017 Role Model for Women
McConnell & Jones’ commercial and SEC audit practice partner, Wendy Nguyen, CPA, has been selected as a 2017 Role Model for Women in the Fast Lane of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM), presented by the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce (GHWCC).
Nguyen, a long-standing member of the GHWCC and advocate for women in business, will be honored on September 12, 2017 at the Women in the Fast Lane of STEAM Luncheon in Houston, Texas. The annual event celebrates Houston’s leading executive women and entrepreneurs in STEAM careers and benefits education initiatives such as scholarships to female students in area districts; Smart Start for Women Entrepreneurs, a training and support program; and STEAM Town USA, an initiative to expose third grade girls to STEAM concepts.
“With her significant experience and passion for serving the community, Wendy is an excellent choice as a role model for women who are involved in STEAM,” said managing partner, Wayne McConnell, CPA “We’re incredibly proud of her accomplishment and to have her representing McConnell & Jones at this year’s annual luncheon.”
Having more than 17 years of auditing and accounting experience, Nguyen works with large and small public and private companies within STEAM industries, specifically those representing health-care, internet based services, oil-field services, petrochemical, energy (including power generation), manufacturing, and construction. Outside of her involvement with the GHWCC, Nguyen sits on the board of directors for Community Family Center, where she participates in the finance and development committee, and on the board of directors of Messenger of Love, a local nonprofit supporting Vietnamese orphanages and underprivileged children. She is also a member of the corporate development committee of Cancare, a national nonprofit that aims to improve the quality of life for cancer patients, and a longtime supporter of the C.T. Bauer School of Business at the University of Houston.
