Giving USA 2017: The Annual Report on Giving for the Year 2016
Indiana University, Giving USA Foundation and The Giving Institute

June, 2016

We are pleased to announce the release today of Giving USA 2017: The Annual Report on Giving for the Year 2016 in collaboration with our colleagues at Giving USA Foundation and The Giving Institute.

The new report estimates that despite a year of economic and political uncertainty, Americans gave an estimated $390.05 billion to charity in 2016, reaching a new record high. This increase in total giving was largely driven by a nearly 4 percent increase in giving by individuals. Giving increased from all sources except bequests. Giving to all nine major types of recipient charities increased as well, just the sixth time in the past four decades that contributions to all major recipient categories have risen simultaneously.

We invite you to read the press release. You can also download the free Highlightsexecutive summary and purchase Giving USA 2017 and related resources on the Giving USA website
