GRACE Client Gets Dream "Wedding"
Jayla Cooper, the nine year old GRACE client who has fought a courageous battle against leukemia for the last two years, "married" Jose Griggs in a public ceremony held Sunday at Paradise Cove on the shores of Lake Grapevine. The couple met while both were receiving cancer treatment at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. Jayla said in an interview with WFAA Channel 8's Monika Diaz that she thinks Jose's cute and that she loves him. After tests showed her cancer had returned and treatment was not a realistic option, Jayla asked her parents if she could get married. Not officially married, she just wanted to know what it would be like to pick out a dress, flowers and other decorations and then walk down the aisle to "Here Comes the Bride."
When the community found out about Jayla's request, everything came together very quickly. There was a ride in Sassy n' Sweet's limo to David's Bridal to pick out a dress, there was the venue provided by Paradise Cove, there were flowers, a minister, a photographer and even a Channel 8 news camera and reporter!
On Sunday evening, Jayla and Jose took vows to be "friends forever", then shared a sweet little kiss to seal the deal. On behalf of the family, GRACE would like to thank everyone who came together to make this wonderful little girl's dream come true.

Volunteer Spotlight: Ellen Paynter Cheryl Mart, RN-BS - Clinic Nurse Manager
For the past five years Ellen has been on call to pick-up clinic donations from area physician's offices. Whenever a physician calls with a donation we simply send Ellen an e-mail request. Before we know it, the donation is being carried in to the clinic by Ellen with a smiling face and a cheery hello. Ellen personifies the giving heart that makes this mission a reality.
We appreciate her dedication to our mission and we are honored that she has chosen to be a part of the GRACE Clinic Team.
Thank you so much, Ellen!
Woodworking Skills Needed Melissa Simpkins, Executive Assistant
We have a project here at GRACE that needs some wood working skills - we need some small wooden "GRACE" logo houses created and a larger one as well.
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help!
What Do You Do With 24 Pounds of Pepperoni?
Kenn Mingus, GRACE Food Pantry
Pantry volunteer Jane Chevier decided that repackaging was the answer. We obtained the large bags of pepperoni from the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Unfortunately most folks can't use that much pepperoni. Jane sanitized the stainless steel table, donned the sanitary gloves and repackaged the product into four pound bags. That is a much more manageable size and will allow more of our clients to enjoy the product.
It's the willingness to go the extra mile that makes the Pantry volunteers so special. Thanks to Jane and all our volunteers. It's your efforts that make the Pantry a great place to work and shop!
Please see "Program Needs" in the column to the left for current pantry needs.

Follow-up Thank You
Last week, we told you about a group of women from Fellowship Church had held a Valentine's party for the women of Transitional Housing. The ladies wanted us all to know that Napoli's Italian Restaurant had supplied all of the food for the party. Please join us in sending a big GRACE "Thank You" to the folks at Napoli's for continuing to be so supportive of the programs here at GRACE.
