June, 2007San Antonio- June 5, 2007-The Woman at the Well House Ministries would like to acknowledge the receipt of two monetary gifts this week, one from the Dan E. and Paula T. Butt Charitable Fund for $1000 and one from the Dooley Family Foundation for $500. The donations arrived in conjunction with the agency’s Annual Appeal Campaign.
The Woman at the Well House Ministries is a transitional home for women released from jail or prison. The faith-based agency, established in 1996 by Rev. Georgia Stone, can house up to 11 female ex-offenders, and its mission is to develop the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical health of formerly incarcerated women so that they may make a successful transition back into the community.
Women ex-offenders must overcome unique emotional, physical, and social barriers in returning to the community. Woman at the Well House provides its residents with a comprehensive and multi-dimensional reentry program geared specifically to women with an emphasis on recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Program components include transitional housing, substance and alcohol abuse prevention, nutrition and wellness, supportive services (bus passes, casual and work clothing, fees for GED testing, telephone and computer access, etc.), counseling, financial literacy, life skills training, aftercare and follow-up, and coordination of community resources.
