Meet Our New President/COO Rebecca Brune

We are thrilled to welcome Rebecca “Becca” Brune as our President/COO of the San Antonio Area Foundation. In her role, Becca is responsible for the daily management, operation, and leadership of the Area Foundation, including the execution of the organization’s strategic plan.

Becca brings with her more than 22 years of experience working at the local, national and international levels building public-private partnerships to support innovative programming and leverage community investments. Most recently, Becca was the Director of Special Projects at United Way, Vice President of Strategic Alliances at Goodwill and Senior Vice President of Methodist Healthcare Ministries.

As a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, Becca earned a master’s degree in public affairs from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and, as a Bill Greehey scholar, earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Bill Greehey School of Business at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.

Feb. 7 and 8 Information Meetings will Cover Funding for Out-of-School Time Programs

Our High School Completion grant application opens Monday, February 6, 2017. Attend one of our grant information meetings to learn about the application process on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. or Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.

Over the past six years, the Area Foundation has awarded $2,807,316 in grants to 34 nonprofit agencies through the High School Completion grantmaking initiative. The purpose of this funding is to raise the overall rate of high school completion in Bexar County by improving attendance, behavior and academic performance in school.  

The deadline to apply is Friday, March 10, 2017.

Annual Responsive Cycle One Grant Deadline is Feb. 10

Our Annual Responsive Cycle One grant application closes in one week. Cycle one funding supports programs in the areas of children and youth, and medicine and healthcare. Submit your application by Friday, February 10, 2017 at midnight.

Last Saturday, 45 board members and nonprofit leaders learned more about the board's roles and responsibilities at our Board Boot Camp. A panel of board chairs and nonprofit CEO's also spoke about the shared leadership role.

2017 Big Give Boot Camps Set for Feb. 9 and 10

Whether you are new to the Big Give or an experienced participant, boot camp will help you learn how to take advantage of all of the new Big Give tools and how to run a successful giving day campaign.

Attendees will learn how to prepare their giving day timeline, utilize social media to promote their efforts, and cultivate new donors.
