Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraiser will benefit nearly 10,000 SOTX athletes in the Greater Houston area.

Those looking to show off their strength or their cars will have the opportunity to do just that when the Bellaire Fire Department hosts the Fire Truck Pull & Car Show at Bellaire City Hall on Saturday, Oct. 22. The funds raised at this event will go toward providing programming and training for nearly 10,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the Greater Houston area. Registration can be completed in advance online here.

To accept the challenge, you must have a team of 12 friends, family, or colleagues willing to test their grit and work together to pull a 55,000-pound fire truck 75 feet. Awards will be presented to the Fastest Public Safety Team, Fastest Civilian Team and Most Money Raised.

 

The entry fee is $300 per team or $25 per person. If you have fewer than 12 people on your team, please indicate so that “fill-ins” can be found. Walk-ups are welcome. Check-in is at 8:00 a.m. and the first pull will be at 9:30 a.m.

 

The Car Show is a chance to out your favorite ride on display for all to see. Register anything from a hot rod, vintage, custom, motorcycle or just your daily driver. Pre-registration is $25 and day of event registration is $30. Registration can be completed in advance online here. Check-in and day-of-event registration begin at 7:00 a.m. and close 9:00 a.m. 

 

 

 

Awards will be given for: Best of Show, People’s Choice, Best Motorcycle, Best Exotic and the Best of the Decade, with categories ranging from pre-40 to 80 and up.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is Special Olympics’ largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle.  In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation.  In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $12 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX.  The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 55,200 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
