Pedal to the Medal Cycling Race Returns to Texas Motor Speedway;
5k Run and Swap Meet Added for 2016
Second annual Pedal to the Medal event to be held Saturday, May 21
to benefit more than 10,700 SOTX athletes in DFW.
Cyclists will have the chance to ride their bile where NASCAR drivers race when the second annual Pedal to the Medal returns toTexas Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 21. Newly added for 2016 is a 5K Run and a Swap Meet. No matter how one chooses to participate, you’ll be supporting more than 10,700 Special Olympics Texas athletes in the Greater Dallas and Fort Worth areas.
Several race classifications (based on speed) are available for riders, including Gold, Silver or Bronze class. A Special Olympics Texas Ride-Along lap is also an option, which features a 1.5 mile ride-along lap with a SOTX athlete. Each registered participant will receive a commemorative event t-shirt. Those that raise $75 or more will also receive a cycling jersey.All participants will also receive a race bag containing cycling-related items, coupons and discount vouchers for the fall NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Pedal to the Medal was established as a way to promote a new SOTX sport in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as well as build important support and partnerships in the local cycling community.
Participation in this event helps provide year-round sports training and athletic competition, inclusion and health programs for children and adult athletes. Sponsorships are available.
