DFW Athletes to Compete in Statewide Special Olympics Texas Figure Skating Championship in Allen on Friday

Six athletes from the Richardson Roadrunners Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) delegation will compete in SOTX’s statewide Figure Skating Championship http://www.sotx.org/competitions/figure-skating/figure-skating-header.jpgevent on Friday, March 4 at Allen Community Ice Rink. Competition and skills events will run from 8:15 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

 

The Championship field will showcase 11 SOTX athletes, ranging in age from 20 to 43 years old, from Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and El Paso, including:Justin Horton (Richardson, TX), Andrew Lugo (Garland, TX), Kristen Lyons (Richardson, TX), Leanne Owens (Dallas, TX), Tekla Petecki (Richardson, TX) and Ian Rawn (Plano, TX).

 

Athletes will compete in four different divisions, which are categorized by age and ability. This is one of eight annual state championship events held by SOTX and one of only three single-sport statewide events.
