Houston First Corporation has hired local arts administrator Christine West to develop an arts and heritage program for the local-government organization.
“Christine will organize and present exhibitions and special events at the George R. Brown Convention Center and our other Houston First properties,” said Dawn Ullrich, president and CEO. “Her commitment to regional art and artists will help us engage the community to tell Houston’s story in a unique and authentic manner.”
West comes to Houston First from Lawndale Art Center, where she was executive director for eight years. Previously, he held posts with the Galveston Arts Center and the Orange Show and was also an arts-based public relations and marketing professional.
A graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, she has served on numerous boards of directors, grant review and conference panels, and exhibit juries.
