Runners to Brave the Cold for Frozen Flippers 5K at SeaWorld San Antonio

Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) supporters will brave the cold at the inaugural Frozen Flippers 5Kheld at SeaWorld San Antonio on Saturday, Dec. 12.  Runners and walkers of all levels are invited to participate and compete in an effort to raise awareness and funds for SOTX programming for more than 9,300 local children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the San Antonio area.

 

Race day check-in and packet pickup begins at 11:00 a.m. The Frozen Flipper 5K gets underway at 12 noon at the SeaWorld Overflow Parking Lot, followed by a post-race awards celebration. Commemorative medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in the following categories: male and female age groups 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+; participants using wheelchairs; male and female Police, Firefighter and EMS. All SOTX athletes will receive a ribbon.

 

Registration can be completed at www.sotx.org/frozenflippersThe cost to participate is $40 for general registration and $20 per child if signed up by Dec. 11. The race day registration fee will be $45 for all walk-up participants. A special SeaWorld package is available for $40, which includes an all-day admission to SeaWorld with a meal voucher ($70 value).
