SOTX Supporters to go ‘Over the Edge’ of Embassy Suites in Downtown Houston
Special Olympics Texas

November, 2015

Thrill-seekers will make a towering impact on Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) athletes when they go Over the Edge of the Embassy Suites building in downtown Houston on Saturday, Nov. 14. Honorary Co-Chairs, including Assistant Houston Police Chief Mark Curran, Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman and SOTX athletes Ashley Billard and Katherine Richards are among the many that will support more than 10,100 SOTX athletes in the Greater Houston area by rappelling down the 20-story hotel structure at the sixth annual event.

Rappels are scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Spots are limited, so register here to go Over the Edge!

Over the Edge (OTE) involves participants raising a minimum of $1,200 to rappel in front of an awe-struck crowd of supporters. OTE is also being held in Dallas this year at The Bank Tower at Oak Cliff, a 15-story hotel building, on Nov. 7, allowing thrill-seekers to take on the Dual-City Challenge. Incentives are offered to those who raise more than the minimum amount required to rappel. (See below for details.)

Companies, organizations, schools and agencies are encouraged to “send the boss, police chief, principal or coach” Over the Edge by raising funds from employees or members.

No previous rappelling experience is required. Participants should be 18 years or older by the day of the event, and weigh between 110 to 300 lbs.

Corporate sponsorships are available.  For more information, contact Bruce Sims (bsims@sotx.org), Joan Jarrett (jjarrett@sotx.org) or Cary Simonds (csimonds@sotx.org) at 713.290.0049.

Incentives

·         $2,200+ Dual-City Rappeller - Everything below plus one night stay in the city of your choice

·         $1,800+ Superhero Rappeller - Everything below plus Go Pro video footage
