Green Doors, a nonprofit agency founded in 1990, will celebrate its 25th anniversary at a reception on November 12th, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mercury Hall (615 Cardinal Lane). Senator Kirk Watson, Representative Eddie Rodriguez, and a Green Doors’ graduate will be the speakers for the evening. The event will be symbolically held the week of Veteran’s Day as Green Doors is the oldest and largest housing provider of Veterans in Central Texas.
“We are excited to share our successes with the community and honor those who helped us get where we are today,” said Christa Noland, Executive Director.
Green Doors was founded by a formerly homeless young woman concerned with the plight of homeless individuals in her community. Green Doors provides housing, supportive services and advocacy and is especially dedicated to the proposition that everyone – whether a child or adult, disabled or not, man or woman – should have access to stable housing. Green Doors currently operated 28 properties that house approximately 400 residents annually, including Veterans, persons with disabilities and single parent families at risk of homelessness (many impacted by family violence).
