FC DALLAS TO HOST SPECIAL OLYMPICS UNIFIED SOCCER MATCH FOLLOWING CONTEST VS. LA GALAXY ON AUG. 15
Special Olympics Texas

August, 2015

FC Dallas will host a Special Olympics Unified soccer match between the FC Dallas Special Olympics Texas Unified Team and the LA Galaxy Special Olympics Southern California Unified Team on Saturday, August 15 at Toyota Stadium. The Special Olympics Unified match – comprised of athletes and partners from Special Olympics Texas and Special Olympics Southern California – will take place immediately following the MLS regular-season game between FC Dallas and the LA Galaxy, presented by Toyota, which is set to kick off at 8:00 p.m. CT.

The Special Olympics Unified match has been organized in conjunction with MLS WORKS, Major League Soccer’s community outreach initiative, in partnership with Special Olympics in an ongoing effort to bring soccer, the world’s most popular sport, to more athletes with and without intellectual disabilities. The Unified match offers a competitive experience for the athletes while also offering MLS fans an opportunity to witness the talents and abilities of Special Olympics soccer players first-hand.

With support from the FC Dallas Foundation and Globe Life, 10 athletes and coaches from the DFW metroplex will have the opportunity to represent the FC Dallas family. [Roster]

This partnership between FC Dallas, Special Olympics Texas and Globe Life is a unique program that provides training, competitions and social experiences for individuals with special needs and their families.

The Unified match is open to the general public. Fans at the FC Dallas game are encouraged to remain in the stands to cheer on the two sides in the game.

Tickets to the two matches can be purchased here. Admission is free after 10:00 p.m.

The two Special Olympics Unified teams will also play a match at the StubHub Center in Los Angeles on Sept. 26.
