10809 Garland Road, Dallas 75218

Disney staff writer and produced playwright, CJ Critt, believes everyone is an expert - on their own life - and has many stories to tell.

The Write Stuff celebrates the signature voice of each writer, by engaging participants to write in a guided environment, and then experiencing the validation and self expression of presenting their newly authored works out loud for the class.

About CJ Critt:

Two of Critt's original works debuted at Dallas' celebrated Big D Festival. CJ's Cursed With Bigness, played on Theater Row in NYC, at Pulse Theater, at Arts and Letters Live in North Texas, and was presented by Soul Rep at the Dallas Theater Center.

Currently a staff writer at Radio Disney, she has created such on-air features as: We The Peeps! (Election language demystified for kids) House Of Friends (modeling good manners for toddler set) & Theater of the B-Zarre.

Critt is the author of YA novel, EggSTory, and the host of the WRITE STUFF- a creative writing and performance workshop where everyone becomes an instant author. Her newest workshop, "Unleash Your Story Time Diva", is an interactive class for beginning to advanced storytellers.

An honors graduate and former speech instructor at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, CJ currently serves as an adjunct professor for writing students at NJCU, & offers private coaching and group workshops in Dallas and NYC.

zineZine Camp with Lisa Huffaker

Session 1: Monday-Friday July 20-24, 1-4 PM

Session 2: Monday-Friday July 27-31, 1-4 PM

10809 Garland Road, Dallas 75218

We are back with the latest incarnation of our most highly regarded ZINE CAMP, voted "Best of 2012" by The Observer.

We're excited to bring to youth ages 10-19 this one-of-a-kind art and literature camp experience! In ZINE CAMP, your young adult will create his or her own "zine," learning the tools for written self-expression while exploring art (and ecological friendly) techniques behind zines and their production. We will also offer "afterwords" an opportunity to participate in a public reading and/or put work on-line.

with Lisa Huffaker:

Lisa Huffaker is a multi-dimensional artist whose work encompasses music, poetry, and visual art, and interweaves them all in performance. Her primary background is in classical singing. She holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory, and has sung with the Dallas Opera since 1999. Lisa is also an accomplished poet: since winning the Morton Marr Poetry prize in 2008, her poetry has been published in Southwest Review, Poet Lore, Southern Poetry Review, Measure, Able Muse, Mezzo Cammin, The Texas Observer and Southern Humanities Review, which recently nominated her for the Pushcart Prize. Lisa has taught creative writing with the Writer's Garret since 2010, where she creates an ongoing series of art-inspired creative adventures at the Nasher Sculpture Center. She has also taught creative writing through Big Thought's Thriving Minds program, where she mentored a poetry club at Lang Middle School. She teaches creative writing at Yavneh Academy of Dallas.
