Many events this spring demonstrate how San Antonio Sports is fulfilling its mission to transform our community through the power of sport. A highlight for me was seeing 40 children (and one mom) who recently completed swimming lessons receive their VIVA SWIM For Life presented by University Health System medals from Olympians Josh Davis, Matt Grevers and NCAA Champion Annie Chandler Grevers at the Nationwide U.S. Masters Swimming Spring National Championships (see story below). One of our goals with VIVA SWIM is to spark a love for the sport and seeing swimmers ages 18-98 compete at the Masters was inspiring. San Antonio Sports has increased the capacity of lessons in our community by over 3,000 this summer thanks to eight donors. Now all San Antonio Parks & Recreation outdoor pools will offer FREE swimming lessons this summer. We look forward to another VIVA SWIM medal presentation at the USA Swimming Philips 66 National Championships in August for all those who complete lessons before then.
On May 2, 127 teams took to basketball courts at four separate venues for the Bexar County Games, presented by Ancira tournament. On the same day, chipping, putting and driving skills were demonstrated by hundreds of children at our i play afterschool Greehey Foundation golf tournament.
Wrapping up the month will be one of my favorite events, the San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup presented by H-E-B. More than 70 teams will go mano a mano at this field day for grown-ups. The event celebrates companies' culture of wellness with a friendly competition, is lots of fun and has turned into one of San Antonio Sports' biggest fundraisers. It's also an opportunity to network and meet new business prospects outside the office. Teams, tailgating, tug-of-war. It's too late to register this year, but mark your calendar for June 4, 2016 so you won't miss out on the best business meeting of the year!

A grant from the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation supports the free family fitness program aimed at motivating families to break away from a sedentary lifestyle, get out of the house and come together for fun, fitness-focused events. To learn more, visit FitFamilyChallenge.com.
Approximately 40 children (and one mom) who completed swim lessons this spring received their official "VIVA SWIM" medals celebrating this accomplishment from Olympians Josh Davis, Matt Grevers and NCAA Champion Annie Chandler Grevers at the Nationwide U.S. Masters Swimming Spring National Championship. VIVA SWIM For Life, presented by University Health System, a program of San Antonio Sports, connects children to swim lessons taught by qualified instructors at public and private pools. San Antonio is the site of four major swimming competitions in 2015, which provides the perfect opportunity to create awareness and educate our community on the benefits of learning to swim and participating in the sport of swimming. Children and adults who complete swim lessons this summer will have another opportunity to receive their VIVA SWIM medals from Josh Davis at the Phillips 66 National Championships in August. Visit SanAntoinoSports.org/VIVASWIM to find out more about this lifesaving program.

Donor Profile: Bob Wills
Bob Wills, CEO of The PM Group, supports San Antonio Sports as a donor and as a friend. He supports many nonprofits both personally and professionally and has a special place in his heart for children's charities. He serves on many local nonprofit boards and committees, and he and his wife Peggy annually host the Saturday Night Fun-Raiser gala each year to bring awareness to local charities and raise funds to help support them. On February 21, San Antonio Sports was a beneficiary of the event. Bob and Peggy were also guests at the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Tribute and continued their support of San Antonio Sports through the purchase of raffle tickets, and the silent and live auctions.
BBVA Compass Supports Fit Family Challenge
San Antonio Sports Fit Family Challenge is the recipient of a generous $2,500 grant from BBVA Compass.
