The beginning of the 2014-15 school year marked a new era for health and fitness at St. Pius X High School, as a new weight room was unveiled to the school community.
The 2,400 square-foot weight room includes the same state-of-the-art weightlifting equipment used by the Houston Texans, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and found at the University of Texas, Auburn University, Clemson University and Duke University, to name a few.
The new facility replaces outdated equipment and a 1,600 square-foot room that was too small to accommodate students and athletic teams. The new SORINEX equipment is well-built, multifunctional, safe, and can be interchanged and personalized easily.
The old weight room was cleared down to the studs, renovated and expanded into a space that used to be the old football locker rooms. Improvements include new brick work, flooring, doors, mirrors, electrical, AC, and more. The new space has plenty of room for weight machines and free weights.
The process of the new weight room began in March 2014 and was completed in August 2014. It is available for use by current SPX students, including both male and female student-athletes, as well as current faculty and staff members.
