Lawndale is more than just a museum, more than the building that houses the organization. It is an idea, a common purpose, a group of individuals working together to celebrate the creative process. - Paula Murphy, long-time Lawndale Board Member and Officer.
As Lawndale marks 35 years, I am reminded of our unique place in Houston's cultural community as a home for local artists to explore their creativity and for audiences to interact with the local art community. I am dearly grateful for the enthusiasm and support of our exhibiting and resident artists, as well as friends and supporters like you.
Since 1979 we have welcomed thousands of local artists to create and present new works in a professional and nurturing space and presented a variety of quality performances, workshops, film screenings and talks free to everyone.
Recently a visitor told me that the word "adventure" sums up what it is like to visit Lawndale - It's fun to come to Lawndale. You never know what you might encounter here. But more than fun, Lawndale's programs, like those during our annual Dia de los Muertos celebrations, bring together the many communities that make up Houston to celebrate, connect, learn and to share.
Please consider supporting Lawndale's 2014 Annual Fund. You help us help artists and make great things happen at Lawndale!
Many thanks and happy holidays,
