Every day, 10,500 children are abused or neglected in America. Each day, four of them will die as a result. Too often ignorance and fear hide the symptoms of child abuse from the world. Too few people recognize the symptoms, and that ignorance can be deadly to an abused child.
Enter the Walk to Action. No ordinary walk in the park, the Walk to Action will be a one-day procession into San Antonio on November 1, 2014. It will be 20 miles of meaning – sixty thousand steps toward the day when every American will understand that each of us can stop child abuse.
The Walk to Action is a bold challenge. It’s a siren call to the world that we will take extraordinary steps to help the most vulnerable. Up to 300 walkers will each support the mission of Prevent Child Abuse Texas, and to participate in this uniquely inspiring event.
Imagine this: Up to 300 people, each willing to walk 20 miles in a public demonstration of support for children. And each person – many of them friends and family of abused children – with the means to raise over $500 in funds, just to earn the privilege of walking. These are the participants of the Walk to ActionSM.
Please consider forming a team of walkers and participate in this moving event. You can produce your own team shirts and train together.
If you are interested in being a sponsor of the Walk by either making a financial or in-kind donation please let me. You can also go to the web site www.walktoaction.org for additional information.
Thank you for your consideration for it shouldn’t hurt to be a child.
