ZINE CAMP for KIDS!!!
The Writer's Garret and Oil & Cotton Join Creative Forces ONCE AGAIN for the Zine Camp of Your Summer Dreams!
FOR THE KIDS' ZINE CAMP
Yes, we are back with the latest incarnation of our most highly regarded ZINE CAMP, voted "Best of 2012" by The Observer.
Working again with our creative cohorts, Oil and Cotton, we're excited to bring to youth ages 10-19 this one-of-a-kind art and literature camp experience at Oil and Cotton,
Monday-Friday July 28th-August 2nd from 1:00-4:00.
In ZINE CAMP, your young adult will create his or her own "zine," learning the tools for written self-expression while exploring art (and ecological friendly) techniques behind zines and their production. We will also offer "afterwords" an opportunity to participate in a public reading and / or put work on-line.
THIS Summer, help your young writers-artists-geniuses DREAM of a ZINE CAMP where they can explore their obsessions, define their margins, and have a blast.

Getting Your Work Published
with Joe Milazzo
Tuesday & Wednesday, August 19-20,
The Writer's Garret
10809 Garland Rd., Dallas, TX 75218
In this 4-hour intensive workshop, editor and published writer Joe Milazzo will lead participating writers through the entire process of submitting stories, poems, and essays for publication, from identifying markets to formatting manuscripts to knowing what to expect (and when) from editors. In the process, this class will also provide opportunities to discuss the pros and cons of both print and online publication, research tools for evaluating markets, demonstrate proper etiquette and sharp communication skills, share tips and tricks for tracking multiple submissions, and manage both acceptance and rejection. All in all, we will work together to demystify the business of publication and to remove those feelings of inadequacy, intimidation, and discouragement that stand in the way of getting what you want out of making your work available to a wider readership.
