Texas Women for the Arts Awards $235,000 in Grants Statewide

Texas Women for the Arts (TWA) has selected 19 arts programs across Texas to receive a total of $235,000 in grants at their Annual Meeting in Fredericksburg. The yearly grant program provides designated funds to arts-related programs, and supports the mission of the TWA by providing meaningful funding to arts education programs across the state.  To date, Texas Women for the Arts has awarded $1,321,500 in grants to 63 arts organizations, impacting more than three-quarters of a million children across the state.

 

Texas Women for the Arts is a giving program uniting the financial force of Texas women in funding initiatives for the arts and arts education throughout the state.  Texas women have the capability of making a tremendous impact on the arts in our state for our youth and our heritage,” says Jennifer Ransom Rice, Executive Director of the Texas Cultural Trust.  “Investing in arts education programs invests in the future of Texas.” 

 

“We are extremely pleased to support the educational programs of these exceptional non-profits,” says Karen Matthews, chair of Texas Women for the Arts.  “We believe the selected programs will have a lasting impact on the lives of the children they touch in their respective communities, which supports our mission - to awaken and nurture the artist in every child.” 

 

The 2014 Texas Women for the Arts Impact Grantees are: 

 

ArtBridgeHouston - $40,000

Sunshine Cottage School for the DeafSan Antonio - $25,000

Art Museum of South TexasCorpus Christi - $25,000

Art Guild of Fayetteville, Fayetteville $20,000

Hope Stone, Houston $15,000

San Antonio Museum of ArtSan Antonio - $15,000

Lubbock Arts Alliance, Lubbock - $10,000

Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth - $10,000

Austin Film Festival, Austin - $10,000

Fort Worth Symphony, Fort Worth - $10,000

Window on a Wider World, Amarillo - $5,000

Kids in a New Groove, Austin - $5,000

Opera in the Heights, Houston - $5,000

Tom Lea Institute, El Paso – $5,000

 

Four additional Outreach Grants were given to the following programs:

 

San Angelo Museum of Fine Art, San Angelo - $2,500

Mexic-Arte Museum, Austin - $2,500

Creative Kids, El Paso - $2,500

City of Tyler/Gallery Main Street, Tyler - $2,500

 

In addition, Texas Women for the Arts continued funding for the Texas Young Masters Program with a$25,000 grant.
