A Mobile Gallery Tour featuring
ICEPOP
An Exhibition by SCUBA

In the spirit of polar discovery, ICESHELF is a mobile gallery, performance, and work/live space inspired by the contemporary research stations of Antarctica. Biodiesel compatible and partially powered by solar panels, the truck uses renewable energy and is a testament to our rapidly changing times. Like an ice shelf or an iceberg, the truck can rest or drift.

ICEPOP initiates a dialogue with 100 years of humankind's exploration of the South Pole. The South Pole has long been a place of harrowing curiosity, natural wonder, scientific discovery, and geographic diversity in the minds of scientists, artists, and the general populace.

ICEPOP was launched by the Center for Contemporary Arts Santa Fe in January 2014. SCUBA is Sandra Wang and Crockett Bodelson, collaborative artists from Santa Fe, New Mexico.

#studiovisit

#studiovisit is a series of posts to Lawndale's blog offering you a look inside the studios of artists Lawndale works with throughout the year. Here's a look inside the work space of Michelle Chen-Dubose. Her exhibition Euclid's Line will be on view at Lawndale through June 14, 2014.

"Currently between studios, I am working in a corner of my kitchen. Surprisingly, this has been a very productive set-up for the last 8 months albeit crowded. I work in oil paint from a photograph of something banal I take from a moving car window. From there, aspects of  the image may be cropped, abstracted or augmented to isolate something experiential. The dimensions of my paintings are all roughly the size of a car window." - Michelle Chen-Dubose
