Greetings!

Tuesday, May 6 is the designated day for all of San Antonio to participate in THE BIG GIVE S.A., a 24-hour day of giving that will take place from midnight to midnight on that Tuesday.

As The Big Give S.A. website explains, "The purpose of this community-wide giving challenge is to increase public awareness of the impact local nonprofits make in addressing our community's social challenges, bring nonprofits and donors together, expand the idea of online giving, connect people to the causes that move them the most and, of course, make giving FUN. By turning giving into a shared city-wide experience, we can significantly impact the future of San Antonio and collectively move our city forward.

Anyone can make an online gift to Cactus Pear Music Festival. All donations on May 6 give CPMF the opportunity to earn matching funds and prize incentives. This means that your gift has the capacity to leverage for CPMF additional funding. You can give by phone, tablet, or computer. Minimum donation is $10. There is not a maximum donation.

As our 18th season swings into action, we are looking for donations that will help with: our Young Artist Program [YAP] and the full scholarships that each of our YAP fellows receives (see below); with their free community concerts; with our Young People's Concerts that our world-class musicians take to underserved areas of the city; and with support in bringing a world-class chamber music festival to San Antonio.

No donation is too small. We build our season one dollar at a time and appreciate your support at any level.

The Young Artist Program Fellows
Audition winners comprise our 11th YAP Ensemble

The Board of Directors of Cactus Pear Music Festival (CPMF) is pleased to announce the winners of the 11th annual Young Artist Program [YAP] auditions. The Fellows receive a full scholarship to participate in this intensive 2-week music "camp" where they learn from the professionals and have their own schedule of performances throughout the city. Pictured above are:
  • Katarina Chavez, oboe
  • Jeff Jin, violin
  • Mario Zadra, violin
  • Emma Reynolds, viola
  • Terri Landez, cello
Education Director Craig Sorgi who coordinated the auditions and judged along with guest musician and cellist Lachezar Kostov of the San Antonio Symphony,

enthusiastically observed,  "It's always great to hear our talented young San Antonio musicians up close and personal like we do during our audition process. We were impressed once again. We congratulate the new YAP Fellows!"
