Imagine preparing for the holidays... wrapping gifts, decorating the tree, cooking favorite foods, when SUDDENLY you feel dizzy, confused, have trouble calling for help, lose your balance and collapse in your living room. You may have had a stroke, like Mr. Jose Ruiz.
Until last month, Mr. Ruiz worked hard as a janitor of a collision repair shop, lived on his own, and enjoyed telling stories to his many grandchildren. In an instant, his world changed. Rehabilitation will be an uphill battle. Mr. Ruiz could no longer work or live on his own, he moved in with his daughter, Patty, and her family of seven. The holidays were going to be different this year.
Patty did not know where to turn. The needs felt overwhelming. She found Project MEND and bravely asked for help. It is Christmas time and the family could not afford to spend hundreds on home medical equipment. Project MEND provided all the home medical equipment Mr. Ruiz needed to stay comfortably with his daughter during his recovery.
"When things are going well, you don't think about what-if. In an instant we went from celebration to caregiving, Project MEND was a lifelinewe had no idea existed until that one day when my family needed help. I hope everyone associated with Project MEND had a blessed holiday season."
