· San Antonio Sports recruiting volunteers for race day, Sun., November 17
San Antonio, Texas – October 15, 2013 – As nearly 30,000 runners and walkers embark on a 26.2 or 13.1 mile journey towards the finish line and the accomplishment of their personal goals, hundreds of volunteers will play a crucial role in their special day. The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon is a community-wide event, and is looking for people who want to get involved and volunteer.
The race returns Sunday, November 17, and volunteers are needed for a variety of roles. From handing out medals or manning water stations along the course, volunteering is a great way to experience the excitement and camaraderie of race day while cheering on family and friends.
San Antonio Sports is recruiting and organizing volunteers for the event. Information on signing up can be found online at www.RunRocknRoll.com/San-Antonio/Volunteer.
“San Antonio Sports has a tremendous volunteer corps and we’re always looking to add new, dedicated folks to our ranks,” said Russ Bookbinder, President and CEO of San Antonio Sports. “There’s no better event than the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon to begin that experience with us. You’ll have fun and make a real difference for the runners and our community.”
The race is debuting a brand new course in 2013, and starts on Cherry Street at Commerce Street, moving from the previous start line on Market Street, and will finish outside the Alamodome. Volunteers will be staged at the start line, finish line, and some spots along the course, providing the most important support for runners, charity groups and more. All volunteers will receive an official Race Crew t-shirt and backpack, along with certified community service hours. Parking and food will also be provided.
