Via both regular in-class writing exercises and reading discussions, this course
offers a comprehensive overview on how to build and sustain a writing practice.

GETTING YOUR WORK PUBLISHED

Getting Your Work Published
with

Joe Milazzo

The Writer's Garret

10809 Garland Road, Dallas 75218

In  this 4 hour intensive workshop, editor and published writer Joe Milazzo  will
lead participating writers through the entire process of  submitting stories, poems
and essays for publication, from identifying  markets to formatting manuscripts
to knowing what to expect (and when)  from editors. In the process, this class will
also provide opportunities  to discuss the pros and cons of both print and online
publication, to  research tools for evaluating markets, to demonstrate proper etiquette
and sharp communication skills, to share tips and tricks for tracking  multiple
submissions, and to manage both acceptance and rejection. All  in all, we will
work together to demystify the business of publication  and to remove those feelings
of inadequacy, intimidation and  discouragement that stand in the way of you getting
what you want out of  making your work available to a wider readership.
