Across the city, kids are preparing to rock and roll into shape as the ING KiDS ROCK, powered by San Antonio Sports, marathon training program gets underway. Through the eight-week training program, 185,000 elementary students in 250 schools representing 14 school districts will be encouraged to train with family, friends, and school officials. Students will log their progress in activity journals and stay on track to reach their marathon goal of 26.2 miles (or 13.1 for K-2) by the end of the training.
Schools are encouraged to celebrate the final mile together on their campus. Students can also race to the finish line on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the ING KiDS ROCK powered by San Antonio Sports at the AT&T Center. The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & 1/2 Marathon will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17.
This school-based fitness program is a partnership between the nonprofit San Antonio Sports and Competitor Group, Inc. For more information on the ING Kids Rock powered by San Antonio Sports, visit http://ingkidsrock.competitor.com/event-info/san-antonio/.
