Any Baby Can, Catholic Charities and Respite Care were named the 2013 Summer Team Up Challenge Champions. Each group will receive $10,000 to continue the work they started this summer improving our community.
Any Baby Can "Fit Kids and Sibs"
The Any Baby Can summer project "Fit Kids and Sibs!" provided free fitness community classes that focused on teaching siblings of individuals with a developmental disability how to incorporate their brothers and sisters into fitness and games. The group plans to use the $10,000 to continue the "Fit Kids and Sibs" program throughout the year.
Catholic Chrities "School Impact Program"
The refugee students in the School Impact Program learned about the importance of recycling and waste management. The students created a video to share with the community about recycling and gave out bins for each household to continue to recycle. They are working to educate the refugee population of San Antonio about going green. With the $10,000 Catholic Charities will continue their work and create recycling pamphlets in their native languages to distribute throughout their community.
Respite Care "Respite Kids Get Fit"
Respite Care hosted "Take Home Tuesdays" and "Fitness Fridays" where children at the daycare documented their nutrition and fitness and participated in hands-on learning activities and field trips focused on healthy living. They will use the $10,000 to continue their program and to provide special needs children with exercise bikes and equipment to accommodate their needs.
