Project MEND award
Project Mend

June, 2013

Project MEND, a nonprofit organization that provides refurbished wheel chairs and other medical equipment for low-income people with disabilities, is marking its 20th anniversary with a new award named for founder Murlin Johnson.

It selected Dennis E. Noll, president and CEO of the San Antonio Area Foundation as the first recipient of the Murlin Johnson Legacy Award.

“The Murlin Johnson Legacy Award is given to a community member that exhibits the values Murlin infused into the agency: determination, integrity, and service,” Project MEND said in a newsletter article announcing the award.

Noll will receive the award at Project MEND’s “Toast of the Town” dinner, auction and awards event Sept. 20 at the Airport Hilton.

“It is wonderful that Project MEND has named this award after Murlin Johnson, a man whose legacy deserves recognition,” Noll said. “I am honored to be associated with his name and with the organization he founded, which does so much good for people with disabilities.”

Incorporated in 1992 and established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1993, Project MEND, also known as the Medical Equipment Network for those w/ Disabilities has been providing for the medical equipment and assistive technology needs of low-income persons with disabilities in San Antonio and Texas for more than 20 years.
