The San Antonio Area Foundation announced that it has awarded more than $1.4 million in higher education scholarships for the 2013-14 academic year.
Nearly 300 students will receive the new awards from the Area Foundation for the coming school year.
Those scholarships are in addition to the 271 previously awarded scholarships that will renew for the 2013 academic year.
“We congratulate these young people for their dedication and hard work that we hope will inspire their neighbors and their brothers and sisters to also reach for academic success,” said Dennis Noll, president and CEO of the San Antonio Area Foundation. “It is especially gratifying to know that many of these students will be the first in their family to attend college.”
The Area Foundation will honor the new and renewing scholarship recipients at its
2013 Scholarship Awards Celebration at 6 p.m., June 20, at the Omni San Antonio Hotel, 9821 Colonnade Blvd.
