Charity Navigator, America’s largest charity evaluator, has recently awarded a four-star rating to Christian Senior Services! As the leading independent evaluator of charities, the group recognizes non-profit organizations who demonstrate sound fiscal management and a commitment to accountability and transparency. With thousands of non-profit organizations evaluated each year across the country, only one of four ever receives a four-star rating.
“We have always taken our fiduciary and governance responsibilities very seriously and we couldn’t be more excited about the recognition,” explains Sharon Baughman, CEO of Christian Senior Services. “Hopefully, this achievement will not only give supporters additional confidence in giving to the organization, but will help bring awareness to the growing epidemic of senior hunger.”
In Bexar County, the fastest growing segment of the population are seniors over the age of 60 with half suffering from one or more disabling condition. With so many older residents becoming homebound every year, the demand for Christian Senior Services’ Meals on Wheels program continues to increase.
“In 2005, we delivered over 500,000 meals,” adds Baughman. “This year, we are projected to deliver 950,000 meals to homebound seniors who desperately need the service. As has been the case for many years, we couldn’t achieve these milestones without the support of our volunteers, corporate partners, and financial supporters.”
Christian Senior Services will now live on the Charity Navigator website for the remainder of the year with the coveted four-star rating attached to the organization’s name.
