5 Noteworthy Changes for TXChildren
Texans Care for Children

September, 2012

5 Cool Features of the NEW txchildren.org

You care about children and want Texas to treat them right. Now Texans Care for Children's revamped website makes it easier for you to learn what kids need, to speak out for children, and to make a difference, alongside your fellow Texans.

New Resources: Activism Toolkits
Getting civically involved and doing your part for kids—these things ought to be easy! That's why we took many of the trainings and tools we've developed over the years and put them just a mouse-click away. Our online advocacy center now has new additions, like our juvenile justice toolkit and 2012 guide to children and the elections. We'll be updating the Activism Toolkits area regularly with everything from how-to videos to step-by-step guides.

New Call to Action: It's All About texas
That's because, without you, our movement to bring a brighter future for Texas just isn't as strong. We kept that in mind in designing a site that's easier to navigate, more mobile-friendly, and better linked to social media. You count in this movement for Texas kids!

New Network: Texas Early Education Alliance
When the nonprofit Texas Early Care and Education Coalition (TECEC) dissolved this year, we pledged to continue the work of its coalition, helping more kids have high-quality early care and education. The transition required a new coalition name, so we surveyed the field and looked to our new staff member, former TECEC director Kara Johnson. The result: the newly named Early Education Alliance.

New People: Our Growing Team
In these tough times for Texas kids, we are strengthening the voice we provide for children. Kara Johnson; Clayton Travis, our new Hogg Foundation Mental Health Policy Fellow focused on health reform; Alice Bufkin, our Early Childhood Intervention Coordinator; Liz Moskowitz, our communications coordinator; and new board members and interns have joined Texans Care for Children's team.

New Connections: Share Why You Care
For all the changes, we are still what we have been for over 25 years: Texas's voice for children, source on children, and network for people like yourself: Texans who Care. Join the conversation on our blog or one of the social networks to share why you care.
