Ending Childhood Hunger: North Texas Food Insecurity Summit
28.2% of children in Texas are food insecure compared to the national child food insecurity rate of 23.2%
Last year, over 65% of the students in Dallas-Fort Worth who were eligible for free school breakfast did not receive one.
The North Texas Food Insecurity Summit will focus on the critical areas of childhood hunger, universal school breakfast, childhood obesity, food deserts and food policy priorities for the next legislative session. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in discussion of each of these areas in order to increase their understanding of the issues and develop their own plan of action.
