San Antonio’s Mayor’s Fitness Council will host the final screening of The Weight of the Nation, a four-part documentary series featuring case studies and interviews with leading experts and individuals and families struggling with obesity. Thursday’s screenings will specifically discuss the cause of the obesity epidemic and how we can reverse it. The screenings are FREE and open to the public. (Download the flyer here.)
Immediately after the 1 p.m. screening on Thursday, a panel of experts will discuss the local impact of childhood obesity and process of transforming San Antonio into an active & healthy community. Panelists include Dr. Thomas Schlenker of San Antonio Metro Health, Nikki Ramos of San Antonio Parks & Recreation, Sandy Morander of YMCA, and Kate Rogers of H-E-B, will further explain tactics that the city of San Antonio can implement to become a healthier community.

The screening is hosted in conjunction with San Antonio Sports, YMCA of Greater San Antonio, H-E-B, City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Methodist Healthcare Ministries, and Univision 41 KWEX-TV.
Attendees will have access to community resources for managing a healthy lifestyle and for making positive changes in San Antonio.
