The Ballet Conservatory of South Texas Names New Artistic Director
The Ballet Conservatory of South Texas, a
prominent non-profit, pre-professional ballet academy and company located in Alamo
Heights, Texas is proud to announce the selection of Marieli Guardiola as its new
Artistic Director. Ms. Guardiola joined the Ballet Conservatory as Associate Director on
January 2, 2012 and successfully directed the Ballet Conservatory’s Company
performance of Synergy 2012 this past March.
Ms. Guardiola began her ballet training at the age of 8 in Puerto Rico. She has
performed numerous Soloist and Principal roles throughout her career and danced
seven seasons with Ballet San Antonio. In addition to her dance training, Ms. Guardiola
has taught in several ballet schools throughout Puerto Rico and Texas, and recently
graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BA in
Interdisciplinary Studies – Bilingual Generalist.

Board President. “She is a critical piece of the puzzle in realizing our vision of providing
the finest ballet instruction in the region for all ages in fostering a challenging, yet
nurturing environment for each student to pursue their individual passion and goals.”
Ms. Guardiola will be directing her second performance with the Ballet Conservatory
this Sunday, May 20 with Academy Showcase: The Wizard of Oz. For more

The Ballet Conservatory of South Texas (BCSTX)
The mission of The Ballet Conservatory of South Texas (BCSTX) is to fulfill the
developmental needs of serious young dancers, regardless of economic background, in
a safe, nurturing and pre-professional dance company environment. BCSTX does so by
raising money for scholarships, providing high quality studio education in dance and
careers in dance performance and education. BCSTX is also dedicated to educating
and inspiring underserved children in San Antonio through providing free tickets to the
company’s performances and free lecture demonstrations in schools, social service
centers and other community locations.
