SILVER & BLACK GIVE BACK NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM LOCALNONPROFITS FOR 2012 SUMMER TEAM UP CHALLENGE

Silver & Black Give Back is accepting applications through May 15 from youth serving non-profits for the 2012 summer Team Up Challenge, presented by AT&T. After crowning five student-led teams as Team Up Challenge Champions in the 2011-12 academic year , awarding each $20,000, Silver & Black Give Back will award the summer Champions $10,000 each.
The summer Team Up Challenge, presented by AT&T, is different from the ‘Academic Year’ and ‘Anytime’ program in that the summer initiative focuses on rewarding local youth serving nonprofit organizations that are engaging youth to improve San Antonio. Last summer’s participants included organizations such as AdviseTX, Presa Community Center, Respite Care of San Antonio, Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio, Boysville, Family Services Association of San Antonio, Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, JOVEN, San Antonio Food Bank and Southwest Key Program.
The Team Up Challenge review committee will select ten semi-finalists from the pool of applicants to receive $1,000 in seed money to help the work begin. In August, three will be named champions and awarded $10,000 for the work they have done to improve our community.
In order to participate, students must fill out a Summer 2012 Team Up Challenge Application and submit it to Silver & Black Give Back by Tuesday, May 15, 2012. About Team Up Challenge
The Team Up Challenge is a service-learning program that allows children to apply what they are learning in the classroom to the real world, bringing education alive in powerful ways. Through these service-learning projects students are empowered to change the world, starting right here in San Antonio. The initiative spans 24 school districts. Students create projects in one of five categories: Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Health & Wellness or Uniformed Services.
