WHAT: Rampage players Bracken Kearns and Justin Vaive will help students at Zachry Middle School pot plants and build a garden at their school tomorrow at 2 p.m. aspart of Silver & Black Give Back’s Team Up Challenge.
Zachry Middle School’s Garden Club, a Team Up Challenge semi-finalist, is a group of students ages 11-14 that are working to decrease the diabetes rate in the San Antonio community by educating their peers on healthy eating options from home-grown garden vegetables.
Team Up Challenge is a student-led, service-based learning initiative that encourages youth to make a positive impact in an area of service that will improve their community. Currently, 20 semi-finalists are carrying out projects throughout San Antonio in one of five categories of service: Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Health & Wellness or Uniformed Services. All 20 semi-finalists received $2500 in funding to begin their projects.
