No one wants to give money back,
we might just have to, unless we raise $2,250 by next Thursday--
a week from today. Will you help?
The Writer's Garret received an award notice for $750 from the Texas Commission
on the Arts for a pilot program that (unfortunately) requires more funding in order
to launch. "LifeLines" pairs aging seniors with their grandchildren, who will help
record the story of their lives.
Immigrant grandparents will have a chance to share their life's journeys, perhaps
in translation. Seniors struggling with Alzheimer's will find their memories reordered
and recorded to reach generations to come. Families, severed by long-standing emotional
rifts, will have a personal, creative connection to pull together again. Participants
may share their stories and pictures on-line through The Garret website--inspiring
The full $3,000 will pay instructors and cover supplies, program coordination, and
project overhead (e.g., background checks, insurance, etc.)
We welcome all support to help make "LifeLines" a reality. Please help by making
or calling in a pledge to (214) 828-1715.
Thank you so very much!
