Cause for Song - 8PM
Concert tickets $8-$30

500 children and teens from CCGD’s downtown and neighborhood choruses sing songs that explore the question, "What happens when we sing together?" from composers Chilcott, Britten, Rutter and more. Last season CCGD launched The Singing Stories Project to ask about the importance of choral music in individuals’ lives. Over 200 people shared their thoughts. Actors bring their stories to life with local playwright Vicki Caroline Cheatwood’s lyrical compilation of responses. An optional gala benefiting CCGD’s music programs precedes the concert.

The Singing Stories Project
The 2011-2012 season marks the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas’ (CCGD) 15th anniversary. In celebration, the Chorus will reveal the results of The Singing Stories Project during its Cause for Song gala and concert at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center on Sunday, February 26, 2012.

CCGD launched The Singing Stories Project last season. Artistic director Cynthia Nott explains, “We wanted to uncover amazing stories to inspire, shape and narrate our 15th anniversary concert season and document the profound impact choral music has on the lives of individuals and the community.“ Parents, choristers and friends from around the country responded with thoughts and anecdotes ranging from silly and irreverent to heartwarming and thoughtful.

Local playwright Vicki Caroline Cheatwood created a lyrical compilation of responses funneling responders’ thoughts into vignettes. Actors will bring these words to life during music interludes. CCGD’s 500 children and teens will sing songs that explore the question "What happens when we sing together?" from composers including Chilcott, Britten, Rutter and more.
