LeAnn Rimes with the Fort Worth Symphony
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra

January, 2012

As a 13-year-old from Garland, Texas, LeAnn Rimes wowed the nation with her hit single Blue and earned comparisons to the great Patsy Cline. She went on to sell 37 million albums, her rich and powerful voice appealing to both country and pop fans everywhere. Now Rimes brings that stunning voice to the symphony stage, for a one-night-only concert with the full Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, 8 p.m. Jan. 28 at Bass Performance Hall.

Tickets are $29-$99 at 817-665-6000 or www.fwsymphony.org

LeAnn Rimes has won two Grammy Awards, three Academy of Country Music Awards and 12 Billboard Music Awards. She is the youngest recipient of a Grammy Award, and was also the first country recording artist to win in the "Best New Artist" category. She has placed 42 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and scored numerous hit singles, including Can't Fight the Moonlight, which went to No. 1 in 11 countries, and How Do I Live, the second longest-charting song ever on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fort Worth singer-songwriter Tim Halperin—a finalist on the 2011 season of American Idol—will open with a short set. For biographies of both artists, please see www.fwsymphony.org.

This concert is sponsored by Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Fort Worth, which has designated the event the “Concert for the Cure.” Both Rimes and Halperin have been strong supporters of the Komen cause: Twenty years ago, at age 9, Rimes performed at the first-ever Tarrant County Race for the Cure.

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra season sponsors are Star-Telegram, American Airlines and Renaissance Worthington Hotel. Promotional support is provided by Star-Telegram and WRR Classical 101.1 FM.
