The San Antonio Symphony begins its 2011-2012 Family subscription series with a Halloween Spooktacular on Sunday, October 30. Children are invited to attend in costume (the orchestra will be) for this family Halloween celebration featuring music from “Harry’s Wondrous World” from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, “Hobgoblin” from Symphonic Sketches by Chadwick and other spooky sounds of the season. Troy Peters, the music director of YOSA, will be the conductor. All San Antonio Symphony Family Concerts are held at Trinity University's Laurie Auditorium, 715 Stadium Drive, and begin at 2:30 p.m. Patrons are invited to arrive at 1:30 p.m. for our popular interactive pre-concert activities that include a conducting workshop and an instrument petting zoo. The one-hour concert program will begin at 2:30 p.m. Parking is free at TrinityUniversity.
The four concert Family Series continues on December 18, 2010 with Ken-David Masur conducting the Holiday Family Celebration.
