Behind Closed Doors:
Voices from the Inside
Behind Closed Doors: Voices from the Inside is the name of a documentary on domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST) being developed by students from the Advanced Policy class in the Department of Social Work at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
The documentary project has several goals: 1) to increase awareness about DMST in the San Antonio community; 2) to share the stories of women who are survivors of DMST; 3) to dispel common myths about DMST; and 4) to create a transformative learning experience for students in the class.
The students are responsible for all aspects of the documentary, including gathering information about the nature and scope of the problem, identifying survivors of DMST who are willing to tell their story, interviewing key informants, engaging the media to promote the documentary, seeking in-kind donations, and ensuring the success of the public showing of the documentary.
A public showing of Behind Closed Doors: Voices from the Inside will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 6:30 P.M. in the Buena Vista Theater located on the UTSA Downtown Campus.
