Every Dog Has Its Day
The San Antonio Botanical Garden announces dates for their annual “Dog Days of Summer”
San Antonio, TX; August 2011- The hottest and most humid days of summer are here. If you are looking for something fun to do with your pet, The San Antonio Botanical Garden offers not one, but two days of canine-friendly fun on Saturday-Sunday, August 6 and 7. This annual event offers relief from the Texas heat in the cooler temperatures of the San Antonio Botanical Garden. Each August, the Garden opens its gates and pathways to four-legged friends and their well-behaved humans.
Opening an hour early, Dog Days will be from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Owners will have the opportunity to enjoy 33 acres of natural beauty while exercising and socializing with their dogs. Be sure to keep your dog leashed and bring disposable bags to keep our Garden clean.
The two fun-filled days include; hosted tours of the greenhouse from the San Antonio Botanical Society showing how San Antonio-friendly plants are being cultivated for the spring plant sales; brunch at Anne Marie’s Carriage House Bistro from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. inside and under the outside canopy. Pets are allowed to “dine” in the outdoor seating area.
Large plastic pools of water will be located throughout the Garden for the animals to drink and “mutt mitts” will be provided for responsible dog-owners to help pick up after their pets.
Regular admission applies; dog admission is $5 per dog. The Garden is located at 555 Funston at North New Braunfels Avenue with free parking and is operated under the auspices of the City of San Antonio Department of Parks & Recreation.
