Love your Family: Join Fit Family Challenge

The family that plays together, gets healthy together. That’s what we hope will happen this summer to those who take part in the San Antonio Sports Fit Family Challenge. Exercise can be fun, and doing it as a family provides a built in support group. Thanks to the generosity of the Kronkosky Foundation and the Blake, Kymberly and George Rapier Charitable Trust and other sponsors, San Antonio Sports is offering this FREE four-month program for a second year. Our goal is to register 15,000 participants, have families get active 30-60 minutes, five days a week, and make a commitment to eat healthier. It’s easy to participate! Sign-up and track your progress at www.FitFamilyChallenge.com.

Fit Family Challenge Kick-Off
World Boxing Champion Jesse James Leija and hundreds of families joined the official kick off of San Antonio Sports Fit Family Challenge presented by Kym’s Kids and the Blake, Kymberly and George Rapier Charitable Trust, on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Edgewood ISD’s Cinco de Mayo celebration. The kickoff event included a parade, performances by Edgewood student groups and other fitness fun. Jacqueline Ortiz, News 4 WOAI, served as emcee for the press conference. For the next four months, families can track their fitness activities and nutrition, participate in free fitness events, and utilize a great web site where you can track activity online or through a smart phone, “ask a trainer” your fitness questions, and much more. Participants even have the opportunity to win a $3000 grand prize and other cash prizes and incentives.

In 2010, Fit Family Challenge focus group families saw positive changes in exercise habits and healthy eating behavior as well as a significant improvement in weight and BMI in children and adults. Join us and have fun getting fit!
