It gives me great honor to announce the Adoption Coalition of Texas is the winner of the national Collaboration Prize (www.thecollaborationprize.com).What does this mean? It means we are recognized nationally for the incredible work over the past 7 years. It means that our collaborative approach, focused on doing what is right for the children, has a 'seal of approval' from national corporations and foundations. For those of us who have poured our hearts and souls into building this organization ALL for the purpose of changing the lives of children in foster care, it is a tremendous honor. It certainly is a legacy! However, the legacy that keeps us going ever day is the number of kids that now have families - that now have opportunities for the future! It is the faces of each and every child in foster care that drives us, that makes us push the envelope. We are SOOO PROUD of the number of children that now have families. But, there are many more that need us. So, for all of us that do this work and believe that children should not age out of foster care without the support of a family system of some sort, this means we continue our valuable work each day. For me, there were many sleepless nights over the past 7 years - sleepless worrying about the kids, sleepless worrying about where the money would come from to continue this work. THANK YOU Collaboration Prize for this great honor. I had no doubt that out of the 807 national applications we were number one! THANK YOU to all who read this because in a variety of shapes and forms, you helped us get to where we are today. We didn't do it alone. We did it because people from all walks of life care and help. So please help us carry on this critical work. Your support is invaluable!..... On behalf of Bruce Thompson, Executive Director, staff, our collaborating partners (CPS, Arrow, Lutheran, Marywood, and Pathways), our community partners, and most importantly, children in foster care, thank you!
It is the greatest honor to serve these children. Yours truly, Tracy
