Caring for people, everyday.
6 months sober
He also has schizoaffective disorder
Just one year ago Paul (not real name) was suffering from delusions, paranoia, and hallucinations. He was not taking his medication, was struggling with alcohol and substance abuse, and was moving from shelter to shelter. He had even been arrested for panhandling.
In July 2010, Paul decided to "take back" his life. He came to Metrocare for treatment and has remained faithful to his promise to take his medication and stay sober. Paul also became an active member of The Well Community (a faith-based organization in South Dallas that provides a safe and loving environment for those recovering from serious mental illness).
Paul attributes his success to the combination of medical services from Metrocare and assistance and spiritual guidance from The Well. Paul has a community of support around him to celebrate his continued success.
