Registration is Open for the Annual IDRA La Semana del Niņo Parent Institute and Administrator Pre-Conference to be held San Antonio on April 13-14, 2011
IDRA

March, 2011

IDRA is holding its bilingual institute for parents and school administrators in April. These two days offer families, school district personnel and community groups from across Texas the opportunity to network, get resources and information, and receive training and bilingual materials on IDRA’s nationally-recognized, research-based model for parent leadership in education.

The theme of the event is “Home-School-Community Connections: Key to School Success” [“Las conexiones entre el hogar, la escuela y la communidad: las llaves para el éxito escolar”]. It will include two parts: an Administrators and Parent Educator Pre-Conference Institute on April 13 and the Bilingual Parent Institute on April 14.

The pre-conference institute will focus on the latest research and strategies on effective family engagement. The fee is $75 per person (by April 1, 2011) and $85 per person (after April 1, 2011). Registration includes materials, refreshments and lunch.

The bilingual parent institute will include topics, such as early childhood education, literacy, math and science instruction, bilingual education, dropout prevention, high school graduation requirements, college access, technology use and Title I requirements. The fee for the parent institute is $35 per person (by April 1, 2011) and $40 per person (after April 1, 2011). Registration includes materials, exhibits, refreshments and lunch.

Both events are highly interactive and participatory. Registration and hotel details and a printable flier are available online or by calling Ms. Jocellyn Rivera or Ms. Rosie Perez at IDRA (Phone 210-444-1710 or e-mail contact@idra.org).

The Intercultural Development Research Association is an independent, non-profit organization that advocates the right of every child to a quality education. Sponsoring IDRA projects for this event are: Coca-Cola Valued Youth Program, Texas Parent Information and Resource Center, and the South Central Collaborative for Equity Center.
