February, 2011The Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies’ Women and Gender Research Collaborative at Texas State University-San Marcos will host Women and Gender, Population, and the Environment: Toward a Greater Understanding of the Intersections Between Social and Reproductive Justice, Health, and Sustainability Issues March 4 on campus.
The symposium will run from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center. The collaborative joins with the Common Experience team to illuminate the 2010-2011 Common Experience theme, “Sustainability: Science, Policy, and Opportunity.”
Featured speakers include Yun Zhou, professor of anthropology and population research, Peking University; Jie Tao, deputy director of women’s studies and professor of literature, retired, Peking University; Lijun Yuan, associate professor of philosophy, Texas State; Anne Deepak, assistant professor, school of social work, Texas State; Catherine Hawkins, professor, school of social work, Texas State; Nicole Jackson, doctoral candidate, department of history, Ohio State University.
