Hand Me Down My Walking Shoes
Join SNAP for AIDS Walk Houston and Help the Animal Aid Program
SNAP is breaking out walking shoes for the 22nd annual AIDS Walk Houston, and we need your help! Join our team and come walk the short 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) jaunt through Houston’s scenic streets. The funds we raise as walkers will support AIDS Foundation Houston in its efforts to stop the spread of HIV and AIDS in our community while helping the SNAP Animal Aid Program (AAP) as well! The AAP offers free spaying and neutering and low-cost wellness services for the companion animals of persons affected by HIV/AIDS. AIDS Walk Houston takes place on Sunday, March 13, 2011. The walk starts at Sam Houston Park at 1100 Bagby St. in downtown. Full story.
Picassos by Paws, Part Deux!
Patronizing Pooch Picture-Painting Party Prevents Pregnancies
Bayou City Outdoors and Archway Gallery proudly present the second annual Picassos by Paws fundraising event for SNAP. What happens at Picassos by Paws? Dogs paint pictures! SNAP staff and volunteers will be assisting the pooches in bringing out their inner artiste with safe water-based paints and canvases. Every dog gets to paint her or his own masterpiece and then, for a small donation ($10 to $20 is suggested), you can take it home. Put it up on your fridge or hang it in the living room; this is true dog art! So bring the canines, bring the kids, and bring your camera to capture all the fun! Full story.
Don’t Just Swipe… SwipeGood!
Program Rounds Up Credit Card Charges to Fund SNAP Spay-Neuter Programs
What if you could change the world with just the change from each purchase that you make? When you join SwipeGood, you can do just that. SwipeGood is a program that rounds up each credit and debit card purchase that you make to the next dollar. A running total of your leftover change is calculated for 30 days and then totaled up. SwipeGood then charge’s the month’s total to your credit card and donates the funds to the nonprofit agency of your choice, SNAP, for example! Full story.

"Animals give me more pleasure through the viewfinder of a camera than they ever did in the crosshairs of a gunsight. And after I've finished ‘shooting,’ my unharmed victims are still around for others." ~ Jimmy Stewart
