What’s New

 

New Science Exhibit in March

This spring experience a new and improved Science Lab. The new exhibit will be filled with many interactive experiences and opportunities for children to think like scientists!

New science discoveries will allow kids to:

• Test their building skills by designing structures that withstand the forces of nature

• Make electrifying discoveries as they investigate the science behind circuits

• Race to the finish as they experiment with aerodynamics and momentum in our race track exhibit

The Arts Cart: Faith Ringgold Story Quilts: A literacy and art connection in honor of Black History Month

Local art studio, ARTWORKS, will lead a Faith Ringgold Story Quilts workshop. Create patterns, mosaics and stories and celebrate Black History Month as we learn about contemporary artist Faith Ringgold.

MacroLab: Dare to Discover Density

Pint-Sized Science introduces your budding scientists to basic science concepts. Every month we’ll explore a different theme such as weather, animals, reactions, nutrition and many more.  Free with museum admission.
February Theme:  “Look Up!” This month’s focus will be on all the things we see when we look up at the sky.

Reading Adventures (Pre-K)

Reading Adventures is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. The program strengthens language, listening and motor skills through story time, pretend dramatic play and multisensory activities. FREE with museum admission.      

 

Dots & Squiggles (Pre-K)
Every Friday

Dots and Squiggles is an early childhood program created and taught by experienced early childhood educators. Fun and engaging lessons encourage children to experience a wide variety of activities that incorporate art, sensory exploration, movement, music, story time and dramatic play. FREE with museum admission.  

 

FETCH! (Pre-K – Elem)

Hands-on science experiments for all ages.

Art Studio  (Pre-K – Elem)

The Art Studio is a fun, hands-on activity space where children and parents or caregivers can create art together. Lively and well equipped, the Art Studio provides opportunities for exploring self-expression led by artist-educators. FREE with museum admission.
February Theme: Henri Matisse: Drawing with Scissors. Create beautiful, organic, free flowing art like Henri Matisse and strengthen cutting and fine motor skills.

The San Antonio Children’s Museum provides engaging hands-on experiences where Kids Play to Learn and Adults Learn to Play! The museum offers three floors of interactive play exhibits, including the H-E-B Kids’ Market, a Tot Spot dedicated to infants and toddlers 0-36 months, action-packed PowerBall Hall and weekly science, art and early literacy activities for children ages 0 –10.
